River

Meet River, a 4.5-year-old Rough Collie boy who is sweet, cheerful, and delightfully silly. With a tail that never stops wagging and a heart full of love, River is an affectionate companion who adores giving hugs, kisses, and endless cuddles. He is a social, confident boy who is open to new experiences with curiosity and loves keeping his people laughing.

He has excellent house manners and can be trusted loose in the home, prefers to sleep in the same room as his family or stretch out on the couch. River thrives with other dogs around and he requires a home with at least one other friendly dog who matches his playful energy. He is wonderful with resident dogs—eager to join in a fun game of chase, yet very respectful of pets who prefer their own personal space. He is also fantastic with people and actively loves the company of children, having shown gentle, polite manners when greeting toddlers and strangers alike.

When it comes to daily life, River is an absolute dream. He has good basic manners, knows commands like sit, stay, lay down, off, shake, and come when called, well most of the time. He walks nicely on a leash and navigates all types of stairs with ease. He's a bit unsure during car rides and lies down, but he happily hops right in and out of the car for adventures! While he can be a bit vocal when he wants your attention or when joining in a chorus with other dogs, his only real training goal is mastering "quiet." He does not care for crate confinement and fortunately does not need it. A securely fenced yard is a must to keep this curious explorer safe as he has a tendency to roam. Grooming is smooth sailing with River; he tolerates brushing like a champ, and while he isn't a fan of nail trims, he handles them like a star by singing his heart out for the groomer!
